Over the years, Balsk has been committed to strengthening livelihoods at the grassroots level. We have launched a range of community-based livelihood initiatives aimed at supporting marginalized and economically disadvantaged groups. These programs are designed to create sustainable income opportunities, enhance skill development, and uplift families from cycles of poverty—empowering them to lead self-reliant, dignified lives.
BALSK Activities:
- Implementation of several social security schemes and employment guarantee scheme (MGNREGA and several other schemes.)
- BALSK conducts skill development activities for income generation to improve livelihood of marginalized communities.
- Capacity building activity for vulnerable community.
- BALSK provides access to agricultural extension schemes-Linkages with KVK and other agriculture institutes.
- Strengthening people’s participation through GPDP (Gram Panchayat Development Plan).
- BALSK also does Agriculture promotion; Disaster Risk Reduction; promoting alternate livelihood opportunities; promoting health and nutrition status; access to entitlements etc. like:
- Collective Farming with improved agricultural practices
- Organic Farming
- Goat Rearing
- Weaving of bamboo baskets
- Fish farming
- Skill building for women to initiate local economic activity
- Identification of women farmersfor capacity building and benefits under different schemes.
- BALSK ensures coverage of pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls under ICDS supplementary nutrition programme; communities under PDS.
- Building Capacity of the communitiesfor adaptation to climate change.
